Metro Diner “A Landmark Reborn” Grand Opening

(Brooklawn, NJ) – The Metro Diner (formerly Ponzio’s Diner) will host its Grand Opening Thursday February 18th, 2010. All specials will include U-peel shrimp appetizer, glass of wine, soup or salad and house cake dessert with the main entrée. Completely redesigned and renovated, the Metro Diner has revived its landmark Brooklawn location. The new owners have decades of experience in the restaurant business with the Oregon and Penrose Diners in Philadelphia, The StoneGrille Restaurant in Blackwood and the magnificent Lucien’s Manor in Berlin NJ.
With a focus on fresh food, impeccable service and unsurpassed cleanliness, the Metro Diner looks to carry the torch Ponzio’s Diner used to hold in its prime. “The clientele, which has endured the past few owners, have already begun their former routine of visiting the diner on a daily basis”, says owner Paul Tsiknakis, referring to how the diner used to be a daily gathering place for all local residents.
With the help of local contractors and Mayor John Soubasis of Brooklawn, the Metro was completely overhauled from the main entrance to the dining rooms, bar, bathrooms and throughout the kitchen. “We kept the exterior architecture, which was already ahead of its time back in the 1950’s, and combined it with a modern, comfortable feel throughout the interior,” says owner Chris Kolovos
The Metro Diner owners, along with the management and service staff, which mainly consists of local residents, decided to do a soft opening to perfect the food and service. “We are prepared and ready for our Grand Opening festivities,” says Tsiknakis . “Along with the Grand Opening specials, the diner offers daily specials for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We also have monthly specials and will focus on changing the main menu regularly to reflect our clienteles requests”
The Metro Diner offers a fully stocked premium bar and on premise bakery, complete with cheesecakes, cookies, muffins, pies, cake, with special orders for personalized cakes. There are also two separate dining rooms that can be set for up to 150 people and menus that can be catered specifically for your social or business affairs.
